In this video a Photoshop drawing tablet has been used to illustrate how the basic proportions of the adult male face are laid out. There is then a step by step process to follow which will eventually lead you to the finished product. A mainly linear drawing with lightly detailed dark tonal areas. Have a go on Photoshop yourself or just reach for a selection of soft tipped drawing pencils and have a go yourself with your own photo!!

Very nice! Thanks for the tutorial! I just had a bit of trouble to draw the eyes and the mouth, but I am just a beginner, so I found a bit of help here http://www.painterartist.com/en/pages/draw-manga/expressions/ and I made it work… Thanks a million

  2. Thanks for that observation. For males, the general shape is to go with a blocky head and for females its a bit more slender, so just use this rule as a guideline. A lot has to do with the shape of the skull in each gender.

I really need some advice. I just got my Pen and Touch today, and is it normal for some of my normal drawings to be 50x worse when just starting out with the tablet? My usual drawings that I do on paper look somewhat decent, but when I tried doing them on my tablet they just looked extremely terrible. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements(7.0).
